The deadline for energy performance certificates for public buildings has expired

By 9 July 2015, public buildings with a floor area of more than 250m2 must have the relevant energy performance certificate and display the label in a visible place.

 

In accordance with the Second Transitional Provision of Royal Decree 235/2013, existing buildings or units of buildings occupied by a public authority must obtain the energy performance certificate and are obliged to display it. This obligation was applicable for public buildings or existing building units of more than 500m2 from 1 June 2013, but for buildings between 250m2 and 500m2 it will be mandatory from 9 July 2015.

In the case of public buildings or rented building units, the obligation to have and display the energy efficiency certificate will be compulsory from 31 December 2015.
